Finally Friday Aug. 29

MADE IT. And now to distract myself from printer failure (Tech! Why must it plague us when it's not working? From every corner?) ...

(Don't forget to click through if the embed doesn't show up in a reader.)

Cool. I would print it if I could! (Oops on the distraction from printer failure. :P)

Yep. How many times this week? Most of the time I still managed to do it with a smile. And if it wasn't a smile at least it wasn't a grimace?

Other people don't quite get it. So they don't listen and put a bunch of tables to block the way. How it goes.

Love these colors. The pic makes me laugh.

I kind of want. I KNOW Clinton and Stacy would not approve. I know.

I hope I didn't sound grumpy. I feel like I did. Have a great Labor Day.

TBT Beginning of the Year Read Alouds

Still nothing new that is finished to share today. My brain's not quite ON yet with the library still all discombobulated--it's coming along but we won't have shelves for another couple weeks. Here are our pretty cabinets.

I've mostly been getting the computer lab up and running. LESS THAN INTERESTING. Especially if they are going to close it for three months for testing. But I know for some of you YOU are the ones getting closed for testing. So I won't whine and I'll just remind you of these if any of you would like to use them.

Click on the first pic to download the pdf.

There are also these if you are so inclined. Click on the pic to download.

I did go in to a classroom to read My Teacher is a Monster and Hooray for Hat. Well received even if I didn't have a silly little bookmark ready to commemorate. And I read Sea Monster's First Day on Tuesday. Slow start but we will hit the ground running!

#IMWAYR August 25

It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It's also a great chance to see what others are reading right now… who knows, you might discover that next “must read” book!

Our Kid Lit to YA version is hosted by Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers.

GREAT IDEA! Check out all of the What Are You Reading? participants for title ideas.

Well. It's been weeks now and all I really have to show for it is
Emperor Pickletine Rides the Bus (Origami Yoda, #6)Emperor Pickletine Rides the Bus by Tom Angleberger
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

HIGH three. Not my fave of the series (#1 and #3) but a great ending all the same. They're learning, those McQuarrie kids. Sometimes a little slowly but they're learning!

My 6 year old niece saw the open book and asked me if it was my diary since it was Star Wars and it had drawing in it. ;)

It's the first week of school with the kids. Apparently I will be spending quite a bit of time in Kindergarten. They are cute but all day? EEEK! So we shall see. If you're already back ... have a great week! If it's your first ... survive! You'll thrive in a couple more days. ;)

Hope to get back on a reading track soon.

It's this niece's 7th birthday today. We celebrated on Saturday with another niece who was turning 1. I didnt' get a pic of her! I <3 being an aunt.

I do not like the mean person who put a huge scratch down the side and then ding in my car. I don't like them at all. But I love being an aunt. And daughter. And sister. And a TL. And a reader.

Look at our Space!

In light of a current linky this makes me laugh. It'll all be good, though. There are plans. Will just take another three weeks or so to implement. ;)

I'm attempting Instagram and posted this earlier. For as much as I love photos I'm terrible at remembering to take them. Are you on Instagram? Let me know! Would love to have more in my feed.

Have you started back to school yet?

(almost) Finally Friday Aug. 15

Theoretically I was supposed to start back on contract today (or yesterday, depending on how you look at it and when you read this). But due to the space still being "unlivable" and a non-functional work laptop ... went and got allergy shots, worked off some frustration on the treadmill, and came home. Friday morning I will go work with another librarian at another campus but do you know, I'm thinking this might be the afternoon. In the name of job research. Won't be able to put off next week because of meetings but these two days were my supposed "work" days anyway.

This is what I did this afternoon.

Don't we all love a good infographic? And Google?

Have you watched much? Just a little. IT FREAKS ME OUT. Seriously, could not pay me money to go diving in those waters. Even in a cage. Barely in a sub.

Not a morning or late night person. 10:30-1:30 like nobody's business.

Our presentation for TCEA got accepted! So no wimping out. This will happen this year.

Just an FYI ... taking a bit of a FB break so it won't be a quick way to contact me for a bit. Anything you might see will have been pre-scheduled or auto-posted. Good timing. Escape some of the "noise" and rest my hand/wrist/elbows.

Finally Friday Aug. 8

This has been both the longest and shortest summer vacation ever. For me, anyway. You?
Short today because I'm still supposed to be careful about how much time I spend on the keyboard. Or reading (holding books). WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO? :P Also terrible timing with school starting (and non-functional space) but oh well.

Had some ideas for maybe this but even programming the Cameo is keyboard time.

I do love this notebook. And the little nerd monster corner bookmark.

Can't say any of this looks like my normal style (97% of the time NOT gold ... silver) but the idea is quite awesome.

And a Hank quote. Because he is so often wise.

Favorite library organization/space saving tips? I'm in need.

EEEK! As the summer winds down I find it harder to actually FINISH things. I've started several but haven't finished them! Plus I've been having to watch both computer and reading time. Finally went to the dr. Dumb "ulnar nerve" something or other. Very undignified. Means tingly numb pinky fingers up to elbows on both hands. More actually holding/reading a book/ereader than on the computer but really both.

Only finished these.

And am in the middle of these. So the goal is to FINISH at least a couple.

I should just take Snicker off. Maybe I'll try it again as a print book. The audio is just not working for me at all. Not mentioned here is Cosmic that I checked out from Overdrive again. That audiobook makes me LAUGH. Seriously. I wish I would have gotten IT from Audible and not Snicker.

Currently August

Linking up with Farley!

  • They are reading The Imaginary Veterinary #1 Sasquatch Escape.
  • Got a fair amount in this summer between my visits and their visits.
  • Seriously. I hardly even have words, as you know. It's going to be VERY different. #whenitsdone And very sorry to see the previous admin go. She was pretty awesome. Must give the new one a chance but she has big shoes to fill.
  • No craftiness this summer. What's up with that! I have an office! Space! Sort of have things organized. Though the crafty stuff is the least organized of anything. Been more than a little distracted with stuff.
  • A Sonic Shake sounds SO GOOD right now. 100 minutes! I can exercise it off tomorrow, right? Or not. But running after nieces and nephews has to burn something. It HAS TO.
  • Really unsure how the first couple weeks will go. Want to do something useful but I don't even know where the books will be until they install the shelves. So probably classroom visits. Maybe some tech projects in the lab? Keep busy to 1)be with the kids (of course!); and 2)make sure no one can say "You go to the cafeteria all day." Cause that would not be pleasant.

Do any of you work at a school that follows "Core Knowledge"? I am curious because another thing I might be doing is working on a libguide and planning for the year as we are adopting that. Of course they pick THIS YEAR right after the spring when I weeded a whole bunch of apparently relevant to this curriculum topics that hadn't been touched in years. YEARS. I guess it needed to be updated anyway. But it had better get used if I spend limited budget funds on it. In theory it looks like an awesome idea. More social studies. More RESEARCH! So I'll be looking for lots of online resources. And maybe hopefully creating/finding/planning great project ideas.

Finally Friday Aug. 1

August? AUGUST? Wow. It's hot.

Click through for embedded content! Thanks for stopping by.

Lifechanging control of t-shirt chaos. Attempting implementation this morning after the allergist's office.

Considering a sort of "game" theme this year. Saw a game wheel with Dewey areas on it somewhere. Anyway. Here are some directions. Debating if I want to attempt something this potentially ... complicated. I like simple.

Funny exercise pin ahead!

I was in B&N the other day and saw a whole bunch of these. And now I want a whole bunch of them. Even the pink ones.

Nooooooooooo ...
